We didn’t think we’d be able to top the huge success of 2020's digital Guildford Games Festival, but this year we did! Before we get into the details, we’d like to take a moment to recognise and thank 2021s sponsors. Without them the Festival couldn’t happen, and we couldn’t be more honoured to have had their support! Sponsors and those of you who featured in interviews, voted or came to the awards - if you're reading this, thank you once again for all your amazing contributions!

The Awards were invite only taking place at The Boileroom in Guildford, whilst the festival went digital and was streamed on Twitch and Steam. The #GGFest21 raked in an impressive 2.2 million unique viewers, with 274,000 hours watched - honestly we still can't believe it! If you're just as mind blown as we are, wait until you hear this… The Guildford Games Steam sale, which ran alongside the festival, saw 13 Guildford Games make it into the Steam top 500! We love that we're able to call Guildford home with such an outstanding pool of talent in the area and we can't wait to see what's in store for the future.

Guildford Developers kindly donated their time to be interviewed for the digital festival -  we were treated to the experience and wisdom of devs from Media Molecule, Supermassive Games, Stellar Entertainment, Glowmade, nDreams and more. All of the talks provided valuable insider insight from advice on how to get into games to the creative aspect of being a gameplay programmer and many more fascinating subjects!

In particular, viewers loved our Women in Games talks with inspirational women from Media Molecule and Supermassive Games. The laidback interviews featured important topics such as diversity of story and experience in game making, encouraging people from diverse backgrounds into games, and useful advice for anyone looking to transfer their skills into the industry.

If you missed the Festival then make sure to check out the official 2021 playlist on our YouTube channel - you won’t regret it!

We look forward to bringing you another Guildford Games Festival in 2022 - be sure to follow @GUGamesFest so you don’t miss out on any exciting updates.
